McFarlane’s design has targeted increasing the life of the of the part while not over-stiffening it. Over stiffening may have adverse effects on the loading of other attachments on the aircraft that are not as visible as the vertical fin fittings. Therefore, the McFarlane design incorporates minor geometry improvements focusing primarily on stress concentration reductions, and the implementation of a superior aluminum alloy that should result in increased life of the part.
