So what's the difference between each style of tape?
- A straight edge tape is easier to sand and provides a less noticeable tape edge once the airplane is painted.
- A pinked edge tape provides 40% more adhesion than a straight edged tape and offers a more classic look.
- A bias cut tape is cut diagonally with the weave of the fabric, offering it more give and stretch so that it can be used around curves and edges.
- A pre-shrunk tape has less than 3% shrinkage left it in, making it a perfect choice for straight edges, like ribs and longerons, and dark-colored airplanes.
Straight Edge (Ex: SF102-xS)
- Easier to sand
- Provides a less noticeable tape edge once plane painted
