Product Description
The 709SK GFCI Service Kit is a safety upgrade for the SAFE-HEET line of engine heaters or any other silicone pad engine heater. The kit provides ground fault and surge protection and all appropriate placarding and instructions for compliance with McFarlane Service Bulletin SB-3.
The addition of one 709 Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter and surge protector in every SAFE-HEET now makes our engine heater the safest unit available. With ground fault and surge protection the chance of dangerous and undetected lightning and mechanical damage that could cause lethal electrical shocks or engine damage is eliminated. SAFE-HEET uses U.L. recognized components and a 100% thermal fused element. The element itself shuts down the flow of electricity if any point on the element overheats. SAFE-HEET is thermostat controlled to maintain oil sump temperature less than 160 deg F. There is no flame or hot air to burn paint or plastic parts. The risk of fire associated with cold starts is reduced.

Why should I buy the McFarlane brand?
What does the GFCI do?
I don’t think enough adhesive was supplied with my SAFE-HEET. Can you send me more or can I use the silicone adhesive?
My GFCI is not working.
Reference the troubleshooting instructions provided with the purchase of a SAFE-HEET. The GFCI will not work unless plugged directly into an outlet. Plug in the GFCI then the temperature controller. The GFCI needs to be the first thing plugged into the circuit. The GFCI needs full voltage to engage. It cannot have an extension cord plugged in the outlet, then the GFCI to the SAFE-HEET. The GFCI does reset itself every time it is unplugged.
Can I install SAFE-HEET on an induction box/Plenum?

SAFE-HEET engine heaters are installed with a two-part adhesive. The engine heater can be installed quickly and easily by using the 707 temperature controller at half power. At temperatures below 70°F the temperature controller must be used to ensure proper adhesive cure. Proper adhesive cure is essential to full service life of the heater.
