Alaska Gear Company’s AF40622 Piper rudder assembly is an FAA-PMA approved direct replacement for Piper P/N 15726-002, manufactured with a 4130 chromoly steel rudder post to meet the material requirements of FAA AD 2025-02-11.

AD 2025-02-11 addresses rudder post failures associated with legacy rudders manufactured from 1025 carbon steel, which have demonstrated susceptibility to corrosion-assisted fatigue cracking, sometimes without visible warning. This replacement rudder from Alaska Gear Company is manufactured from 4130 chromoly steel, the material specified by the AD to correct the unsafe condition.

The assembly is supplied uncovered and powder-coated for corrosion resistance and long-term durability, and includes pre-installed brass bushings to simplify installation and reduce downtime. The rudder is configured with a lower rear beacon only, matching applicable configurations.
