MC67184-000 directly replaces Piper P/N 67184-000. This axle is a sub-component of the Piper axle assembly P/N 67183-000, which is itself a sub-component of strut assemblies P/N 67307-004 and P/N 67037-006.
Why can't I just order the axle from Piper?
Piper does not sell P/N 67184-000 as a standalone part. The axle is secured with an AN4-31A bolt, NAS1149F0432P washer, and MS21042-4 nut.
What should I look for when inspecting the axle?
Signs that the axle may need replacement include visible cracks or separation from the strut, a wheel that is tilted or not perpendicular to the gear leg, and surface discoloration, rust streaks, or hairline cracks. If any of these conditions are present, remove the axle for magnetic particle inspection.
Can this part be used on aircraft with the PA-32R-301T designation?
