Newly constructed air boxes reduce maintenance headaches, increase efficiency of the induction system and include vibration absorbing parts. Eliminate cracks and vibration fatigue repairs. Effective control and application of carburetor heat is a must. Damaged components, mis-repair and inferior seals can cause dangerous conditions and the inability to clear away ice. Improved components extend the service life of all components through the use of McFarlane vibration absorbing bearings, no more needle bearing failures!

Maintenance Tip:

When there is excessive “slack” or lack of “sufficient friction” on the carb heat control cable the flapper will vibrate back and forth wearing the airbox, the carb heat cable and create unneeded vibration.

McFarlane’s carb heat cables have a friction/tension system built in for reduced vibration wear, longer life and smooth, consistent control and a special heavier wire for more fatigue strength and reliability!

Replace your old, worn, carb heat cable with a new McFarlane FAA-PMA approved cable.

Is NG-KT-155 a replacement for the Cessna service kit?

The NG-KT-155 service kit is a fully compatible alternative to Cessna service kit SK210-155. It supports the same maintenance action outlined in SEB95-20 and provides improved availability and value. The kit itself is non-approved, though FAA-PMA approved components are included.

How do I know which screw kit to use?

The screw kit depends on if the holes in the floor of your airplane have been carefully removed and are close to new size or if they have been enlarged by unskilled rivet removal or the rails have been changed before. It will make a difference if the previous rails installed were Cessna rails with predrilled holes in the rail. (They do not normally line up well and the floor has been mis-drilled some to force them to align). If the holes are good, use the SR6-SCREW-KT kit. If the holes are enlarged some, use the SR8-SCREW-KT kit.

Can I buy the parts separately?

Yes. McFarlane offers MC1290009-2 downlock pins, MC1290009-3 drill tool, or NG-KT-155 complete service kit.

What is the replacement for Cessna part number 0431148-1?

McFarlane’s Vertical Fin Fitting Kit (MC0431148-1-KT) provides an FAA-PMA replacement for 0431148-1, as well as 0431009-1, 0431009-2, and 0431009-3 used on various Cessna 150 and 152 aircraft. The kit includes an improved fitting design, installation hardware, and the tooling needed for proper installation.
