Frequently Asked Questions

Nicrocraft

  • Are any other exhaust components commonly replaced when stacks are removed?

Yes. When exhaust stacks are removed for AD 2000-01-16 inspections or replacement, adjacent exhaust joints and hardware are often disturbed. On turbocharged models, this may include V-band clamps and couplings at the turbocharger inlet or tailpipe connections, along with gaskets, heat shields, and firesleeve, to ensure proper sealing and fire protection during reassembly. Browse the McFarlane website for those replacement components.

  • Are these parts approved for AD 2000-01-16 compliance?

Yes. These FAA-PMA stack assemblies may be installed as direct replacements for OEM stacks removed during inspections and corrective actions required by AD 2000-01-16.

  • How should I inspect my exhaust system?

Refer to AC91-59A or Nicrocraft Exhaust system checklist. The American Bonanza society puts out a good video by Bob Ripley on Beechcraft exhaust inspection that is applicable to most types of aircraft.

  • I have an STC/upgraded engine on my airplane. What muffler fits it?

Refer to STC Paperwork. Should specify if original muffler can fit, or a different style –possibly even for a different brand of Aircraft could be used.

  • What aircraft are these exhaust stacks approved for?

    FAA-PMA approved for Cessna 310P/Q/R, 320D/E/F, 340/340A, 401/401A/B, 402/402A/B/C, 404, and 414/414A.

  • What is the benefit of stainless steel construction?

Stainless steel provides improved resistance to high-temperature fatigue, corrosion, and cracking compared to legacy materials, extending service life in turbocharged exhaust environments.

  • What is the warranty policy?

12 month warranty, unlimited hours. Please contact our sales team for further instructions.

  • What paperwork comes with the muffler?

    8130-3 and the warranty card.

  • Why are exhaust stacks frequently replaced on these aircraft?

AD 2000-01-16 addresses cracking, corrosion, and exhaust leakage that can lead to in-flight fire risk. Stacks are commonly removed due to wall thinning, heat damage, and slip-joint wear.
